Youtube and mp3s work fine, but suddenly sound in bf1942 (and forgotten hope) does not work. I checked sound for battlefield vietnam and that worked fine. I am at a loss. Help! Thank you.

Tried altering the settings to no avail. Perhaps the sound.rfa (or some other file) got corrupted? I'm stumped. scratch chin

Tried this and nothing changed so I uninstalled then re-installed the game. Bizarrely enough the sound still would not work after a fresh install (i.e. deleting the old bf1942 folder, backing it up, et cetera). There is an error message that shows up after I restart the computer:

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01756341&printver=true

For some reason the computer will not update properly because of this. I'll try re-installing Service Pack 2 and see if that works. I ran a malware/virus scan and no viruses came up.

Hi all Comrades and you Schwingeebob Very Happy

I hope I shall solve your problem maybe cause I tested BF1942 and FH on a broken PC .

Try this procedure:

1. Download Vista SP1 and Vista SP2. You could also write these files on an external HDD or on a memory stick or on a DVD.

2. Uninstall all Vista updates you made before.

3.Uninstall your sounds drivers and also your video drivers.

4. Uninstall all bf 1942 Mods and also bf 1942 and all its addons.

5. Eraze all files in "my documents" about 1942 and its Mods.and addons.

6. Eraze using "regedit" all bf1942 and addons keys.

7. Clean your PC register base with Glary utility then Ccleaner.

8. Restart (re-boot) your PC.

9. Install only the first drivers that you had when you bought your PC (go to the constructor Internet site for that)=> Restart your PC.

10. Install Bf1942 and its 2 addons (if you have them) it is italy campain and secret weapons of WWII.

11. Install the full battlefield 1942 patch and after the little patch.=>Restart your PC.

12. Now test only Bf1942 vanilla in single player mode and if you can listen souinds test it on servers on the Net.

13. If all is OK install FH and all maps via PFC toolbox then the compatibility patch=>restart your PC.

14. Install via PFC toolbox the No CD=>Restart your PC.

15. Can you listen now the sounds or no?

After your future answer I shall write about Vista updates.

Best regards!

Before reading your post Sarge, I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 and dump Vista. Now working on some new bumps in the road.
Thanks for the advise.

The sound works with the Windows 7 upgrade, however now I cannot get full screen resolution. I installed the compatibility patch yet still cannot switch to different resolutions. I click save while changing the res. and it does nothing. All of the proper Radeon drivers have been installled and Battlefield/FH has been reinstalled as well.

EDIT: Turns out the resolution changes however the screen doesn't span the entire monitor. I altered the VideoDefault.con file by changing renderer.setFullScreen 1 to 0, but that did nothing.

EDIT 2: The black bars on the side has to do with the resolution not being able to be stretched out for some reason. I looked in the Catalyst control center to change this and there was nothing available.

EDIT final:

Problem resolved!

Turns out that I had to switch the lower resolutions to the "full screen" option with the Catalyst Control center. See you on the Battlefield. Smile

Hi all Comrades and you "Schwingeebob" Very Happy

Good news about sounds but I have a question for you please:

Can you play FH in native resolution of your screen? I want say for example 1920*1080 .

Warning! Very often people think they are playing FH in native resolution of their screens (they make a confusion with fullscreen).

Playing FH in native resolution of your screen <=> Playing FH in widescreen.

Can you play FH in widescreen?

Remember: If you want to play FH in widescreen you must write in video.con....customvideo.con....files the correct parameters.

Please see topic:

Best regards.
